Cyberattacks on Radiation Oncology – Experiences and Managing an Increasing Risk
Tuesday, February 11, 2025 | 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (CET)
Samuel Peters from the ISROI board will give one of the talks.
The threat of cyberattacks continues to rise globally, posing significant challenges for healthcare institutions, including radiation oncology departments. In the event of a cyberattack on a hospital, the radiation oncology department can be particularly affected, as its daily operations heavily rely on the availability of digital data and services. This dependency means that a cyberattack could completely disrupt the department’s operations and patient treatments for an extended period.
In this webinar, a recent cyber incident will be presented, illustrating how patient care was managed during such a crisis and the short- and long-term consequences that followed. The session will also explain what cyberattacks are, how they work, and their direct impact on radiation oncology services.
To help prepare for such threats, the webinar will introduce various strategies and methods, including preventive measures to reduce the likelihood and severity of attacks and emergency protocols to ensure continued patient care during or after an attack.
Participation in the webinar is free of charge.
