ISROI Session at SASRO 2024 in Sursee

ISROI Scientific Session at SASRO 2024: Exploring AI in Radiation Oncology

At this year’s SASRO 2024 meeting, the ISROI hosted again a compelling scientific session, highlighting the integration of AI into radiation therapy. Chaired by Paul Martin Putora (St. Gallen) and Roger Hälg (Aarau), the session featured three insightful talks.

Marco Meinschad (Salzburg, AT) kicked things off with his presentation, How does AI work?, providing attendees with a foundational understanding of AI technology and its relevance to healthcare.

Next, Fabio Dennstädt (Bern) discussed CDE-based data structuring for IT and AI solutions in radiation therapy, focusing on how structured data enhances AI-driven clinical software solutions, paving the way for more efficient and precise treatments.

Finally, Jan Peeken (München, DE) concluded with Clinical applications of artificial intelligence in radiation therapy, showcasing examples of how AI is transforming patient care in radiation oncology.

This session underscored the pivotal role AI is set to play in the future of radiation oncology and fit perfect to the heading of the conference “Learning Health Systems: collection of evaluable data, data transformation into knowledge, feedback to patient value”.

We enjoyed the great interest in our projects and the discussions at the conference. We are looking forward to seeing these technologies advance and shape our field!
